James Day, Chairman and CEO, founded Suncrest in 2011. He is a business executive with 25+ years of experience building companies and brands. Prior to founding Suncrest, his marketing agency, The Day Group, Inc. developed marketing programs for mid-sized firms and Fortune 500 companies in over a dozen industries. Day has been on the management team of several technology start-ups and was a turn-around consultant in the wholesale/retail greenhouse nursery business. His holds a B.A. in chemistry, completed all the course work for a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and received an interdisciplinary M.S. degree focused on sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and systems integration. He speaks conversational Spanish and basic Mandarin Chinese.

Dr. Snyder, Chief Scientist, joined the company as a co-founder in 2012. For 30+ years he has worked in water treatment, monitoring and resource management. He was a “Principle Scientist” for NASA’s “Microgravity Hydroponic Plant Research” program for the International Space Station and the future moon base. For years his consulting firm, Gordon Snyder & Consultants, has worked with companies and government agencies and is well known for benchmarking water purity. He holds a Ph.D. in Water Quality, anM.S., in Water Resource Management and a B.A. in Instrumental Chemistry.

Robert Day, VP, Growing & Commercial Sales, joined the company as a co-founder in 2011. As a greenhouse “grower” he has managed up to 250,000 SF of wholesale greenhouse operations, supervising 25 employees and was instrumental in building a 6-figure increase in sales. His career began with Vaughan-Jacklin Seed (Syngenta) where he helped build his department’s sales to $10M+. He later became one of their Texas sales reps. Prior to operating his own wholesale flower nursery (55,000 SF of greenhouses), Day worked with Klepac Greenhouses of Dallas, increasing sales from $900K to $1.2M by implementing sales promotions with regional grocery chains. He has been called one of the “best growers in Texas” and earned his B.A. degree in Horticulture from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
